Truly fantastic sci-fi. Independently animated and amazing. So talented.

If you live within driving distance of LA and want a chance to see Paperman in the theatre before Wreck-It Ralph comes out, the word is it’s going to be playing in front of Cinderella at the El Capitan, August 15-30. It’s far and away my favourite thing that’s been made in my time at Disney, even though it’s just a short; I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Paperman - Stills

Source: cliobablioHey guys! Paperman debuted in Annecy today, and in order to celebrate, here are some earlier rough boards I did while working on it. Thanks so much to John Kahrs for letting me work on such an amazing project, and it turned out absolutely gorgeous. It is personal, sincere and heartfelt just like the individual who came up with the idea. I am so grateful to have been given a chance to work on Paperman. Congrats John!!!
PS: Be sure to watch out for the short in front of Wreck-it Ralph this November! I absolutely love Ralph too.
EDIT: Wow! Thank you everyone for the kind words. These boards are not indicative of how the short actually turned out, many sequences were reworked, cut, etc. etc…. you know the drill.

Source: arythusaMy fourth year film, Kagemono, is finally finished! XO It is the story of Beopup the fox.
This is… One of the most adorable, most beautiful, best designed and consistently well animated films I’ve ever seen *~* It’s AMAZING, I’m totally blown away by just how charming and well-done this is. BRAAVOOOO
This is the poster (designed by Jeff Turley) for Paperman, a Disney short that’s been generating buzz for its distinctive melding of CG and hand-drawn animation. It’s the directing debut of veteran CG animator John Kahrs (Toy Story 2, Tangled, The Incredibles). Paperman will debut at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in June. It will be distributed more widely in November when it plays in front of Wreck-It Ralph. The synopsis below is from the film’s Facebook page:
Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting… with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him. (via cartoonbrew)

During the night, a boy and a girl, escape from the city, running away towards nature, only to be the kings of the night.
A video made by Chloe Nicolay, Manddy Wyckens, Anthony Lejeune, Gaspard and Leah Sumeire Justum, five students of the famous French animation School, Gobelins under the production of Cube Creative.
Great atmosphere, very successful visualisation and big credits for the music. Do yourself a favor, full screen it and get lost inside this really great short.
That was so amazingly beautiful. W…ow. I just keep re-watching it.
Oooooohhh man that was good O:
I love this. And not just because it’s Cube, or that it’s animated.
You know why? Because it was just so simple, and sex-positive, without submitting to the male gaze in the club which is, frankly, boring.
They’ve just met, there’s no pretense about her history or what type of person that makes her. They laugh and tease each other; she confidently takes off her own shirt. There’s nothing about the masculinity of the event, no thrusting, no submissive thrown-back female head, no ass-shots. A hand trailing its loving way up her body and entangling with her fingers is all this short needs to show that it’s not all about the guy.
Perfect.
What happened Dreamworks?
Your old 2D movies were sooooo good. I remember watching The Prince of Egypt and The Road to El Dorado and loving them. When did you switch to franchise overkills and end of movie dance parties? As of late your last couple of movies have been good ie: Kung Fu Panda and How to Train a Dragon. But then I remember Over the Hedge and Bee Movie and Shark Tale and Shrek 4.
This was so refreshing and well made. Maybe I’m biased because I simply believe 2d animation is just more visually appealing. But Dreamworks could do so much better.
